COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS AND ROAD STRUCTURE.
The main street of the city was formed on two levels as a means to overcome the natural slope, the upper level served as a pedestrian walkway. Due to its proximity to the palace and its connection to the commercial district and a cistern for water supply, it was a gathering point for the city’s residents where much of the social life took place.
Lining both sides of the street were two buildings devoted to commercial and artisanal activities. They housed nine shops and their corresponding workshops. According to excavated archaeological remains, some of these workshops were dedicated to the production and sale of glass objects and precious metalwork pieces.
