THE PALATINE CHURCH

The most important temple in Reccopolis, situated on the eastern side of the main plaza, had a cruciform floor plan inscribed within a rectangle, and a baptistery room in its northwest corner.

The quality of its ashlar stonework, its pavements similar to those of the palace, and the variety of its decorative elements (capitals, bases, chancel screens, sarcophagus fragments…) give an idea of the importance of this construction.
