A BLACKSMITH’S SHOP FROM THE ANDALUSI PERIOD

Over the space once occupied by one of the shops from the Visigothic era, a blacksmith’s workshop was constructed at the beginning of the Andalusian period in the eighth century. Testimony to it are parts of the walls of this new building, as well as the foundations of its furnace. This furnace, with a rectangular floor plan, preserves the combustion chamber in its central area. The blacksmith’s workshop served to meet the population’s needs for iron implements derived from agricultural and everyday activities.
