THE ANDALUSIAN HOUSE

During the two phases documented for the Andalusian period, the early eighth century and the late eighth to early nineth centuries, urban life continued in the city now called Madinat Raqqubal. The excavations attest to this fact, as the diverse residential spaces from this era have been documented.

For the first Andalusian phase, an example is constituted by the renovations carried out in the old commercial building. Walls were constructed that compartmentalized the new dwellings and replaced those that were ruined from the original facade. Associated with these spaces are cooking hearths and Andalusian ceramic materials that testify to their use as residences.
