Bowl with a carinated rim

A bowl with a carinated rim, documented from the Visigothic phase of the 7th century AD, found in the city of Reccópolis (Guadalajara) during the 2002 excavation campaign. The piece, made on a potter’s wheel, has a manufacturing defect that results in an uneven rim. It also has a fracture on part of the body and the base. The visible darkening on the outer surface suggests that this pottery was exposed to some kind of heat source.

Visigothic Tremís

This coin minted by the Visigothic king Tulga in Córdoba, as the obverse (TULGA REX) and reverse (CORDOBA PIVS) show, was documented at the Reccopolis site in a grave, possibly dating from the Islamic period. This coin is an example of the importance of Cordoba in the Visigothic period as a city and as the centre of the Baetica region.

Visigothic Earring Mould

An earring mould reused on both sides for the manufacture of goldsmith’s ornaments. It has incisions on both sides for making circular earrings with various pendants. The remains of the metal that joined the two parts of the mould to make the pieces can be seen.

Visigothic inscription on marble

A fragment of a Latin inscription from the Visigothic period on white marble. It shows V on the upper line and FRV on the lower line. Recovered from the Reccopolis site, this fragment preserves the face of the inscription as well as the face that would have been attached to the surface on which the inscription was located.
